Our client, a leading cosmetics company, is hiring a SCADA Expert on a contract basis.
Job ID: 83392

Work Location:
Melville, NY

Summary:
The client is seeking a SCADA Engineer with deep expertise in Ignition by Inductive Automation, specifically the Perspective module, to lead the development of responsive dashboards for a new SCADA implementation.

The dashboards will serve Compounding Operations and Filling & Assembly (F&A) Operations, spanning ~250 machines (20 compounding kettles and ~230 sub-units across 40 filling/assembly lines).

The engineer will design, build, and deploy user-friendly dashboards, leveraging lessons learned from the Sakura (Japan) SCADA rollout, and ensuring robust integration with underlying control systems (PLCs, MES, and other OT systems).

This is a contract role, focused on delivering all dashboards and documentation by year-end.

Key Responsibilities:
– Lead the design and development of SCADA dashboards using Ignition’s Perspective module.
– Build responsive, mobile-first dashboards using HTML5/CSS3, Perspective containers, and design best practices.
– Develop and structure dashboards using Views, Containers, and Perspective components (charts, gauges, input fields, images, etc.).
– Configure bindings, properties, and scripting to connect real-time tag data with UI elements.
– Implement message handling and inter-component communication for dynamic, scalable dashboards.
– Integrate dashboards with control systems (PLCs, MES, ERP, OT protocols) to ensure accurate and actionable data visibility.
– Incorporate Sakura lessons learned into dashboard design, architecture, and deployment.
– Apply UX/touch design principles, ensuring dashboards are intuitive and ergonomic for industrial environments.
– Leverage native device features (camera, GPS, barcode scanning, accelerometer, Bluetooth) for operational workflows.
– Deploy dashboards in Perspective Workstation for control room and kiosk-style use.
– Ensure security compliance: SSL/TLS encryption, federated identity (SAML, OAuth, OpenID), role-based access, and Perspective’s security levels.
– Collaborate with Manufacturing, IT, and Engineering to validate dashboard usability and performance.
– Document all work, deliver dashboards, and support testing/commissioning across ~250 machines.

Required Qualifications
– 5+ years in SCADA engineering, with proven hands-on experience in Ignition Perspective.
– Strong understanding of control systems, PLC programming, OT protocols, and MES/ERP integrations.
– Expertise in:
  – Responsive dashboard design with Perspective containers, Views, and components.
  – Property bindings, scripting, and event handling in Perspective.
  – Applying mobile-first UX principles for industrial applications.
  – Deploying dashboards across devices, including Perspective Workstation.
  – Configuring secure authentication/authorization (role-based access, federated identity, SSL/TLS).
– Experience in manufacturing operations (compounding and filling/assembly).
– Familiarity with FDA validation requirements (URS, design specs, test protocols) a plus.
– Strong communication and problem-solving skills; ability to work independently with tight timelines.
