Our client, a leading financial company, is hiring a Contingent Proofreader on a contract basis

Summary:

This position is a contract role expected to last 12 months with the possibility of extension.

The work hours are overnight either second shift (4:00 PM – 12:00AM ET/midnight) or third shift (12:00AM/midnight – 8:00AM ET), to include one weekend day, with some overtime.

Work-Mode: This is a remote role where you will work off-site. Travel is limited and generally used for team learning and collaboration meetings.  

Responsibilities:

  • Proofread edits from various sources:  tracked Word changes, PDF, Excel files, PPT files, HTML files
  • Perform a full quality check on various types of financial documents at the time of creation, as well as after various changes from the client, before they are filed with the SEC (Securities and Exchange Commission) and/or printed
  • Compare converted documents to the original documents received from the client, ensuring that the content matches
  • Proofread and verify that spelling, style, and alignment are correct and consistent  with client-submitted copy throughout (including job numbers, folios, headings, etc.)
  • Make sure all logos and graphics are correct and of the highest quality
  • Mark identified changes directly on the printed PDF proof utilizing Adobe annotation tools
     

Qualifications:

  • 1-2 years of experience in Proofreading is preferred, or a degree in English or similar field. Prior Proofreading experience in Financial Printing a plus.
  • High level of skill in written English including spelling, grammar, and punctuation
  • Self-motivated to work efficiently and meet deadlines
  • Ability to stay focused throughout an entire document, which may be long and technical
  • Good interpersonal skills to build working relationships with co-workers and internal clients
  • Extensive confidence with computers and a strong command of Microsoft Office Suite
  • Comfortable working with high-volumes, and capable of maintaining accuracy in a fast-paced environment
  • Ability to work flexible, and potentially extended working hours during seasonal periods

Pay Range:  $21-22
