Network / Systems Engineer

Our client, a leading healthcare company, is hiring a Network / Systems Engineer to play a crucial part in maintaining and enhancing communication systems to ensure seamless operations 24/7.

Ideal candidate would have strong network and systems experience. SolarWinds, PowerShell, and/or scripting experience highly desired. 

Work Location:

Westbury, NY area preferred but open to remote for ideal candidate

Summary:

  • Your responsibilities will include diagnosing and resolving complex communication issues, coordinating team activities, and implementing improvements based on data-driven insights.
  • Successful candidates will play a critical role in maintaining and improving communication systems within the organization.

Responsibilities:

  • Organize and manage day-to-day and after-hours support for communication operations, ensuring uninterrupted service.
  • Coordinate daily assignments for the engineering team, covering incident management, device configuration reviews, and change control.
  • Report and analyze metrics to proactively identify communication issues and implement recommendations to enhance performance and availability.
  • Manage assigned Incident and Change queues, ensuring compliance with established Service Level Agreements.
  • Ensure adherence to change management procedures.
  • Maintain communication monitoring systems and make resource recommendations for service level improvements.
  • Keep documentation accurate and up to date while providing necessary training and guidance to the team.
  • Contribute to the development of functional objectives and innovative problem-solving, addressing diverse and complex issues.
  • Perform related duties as required, considering all responsibilities as essential functions of the job.

Skills:

Required:

  • Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent combination of education and related experience is required.
  • Minimum 5 years of relevant experience, with demonstrated team leadership capabilities.

Preferred:

  • Strong knowledge in network engineering and troubleshooting, equivalent to CCNP/CCIE level.
  • Proficiency in Windows server engineering and troubleshooting, equivalent to MCSE level.
  • Familiarity with Linux, equivalent to CompTIA’s Linux+ or similar certifications.
  • Experience with virtualization technologies such as VMware, Docker, and Kubernetes.
  • Cloud experience with GCE, AWS, and Azure, including app deployment and network engineering.
  • Full stack application development, proficiency in various frontend and backend frameworks and runtimes.
  • Familiarity with technologies such as JavaScript, Node, Angular, .Net, ASP.NET, MSSQL, MongoDB, REST APIs.
  • Experience with monitoring tools such as SolarWinds and ServiceNow, and knowledge of SNMP.
  • Project management skills, including Scrum, Kanban, and DevOps methodologies.
  • Familiarity with ITIL practices.
  • Proficiency in HTML and CSS.

Pay Rate:  $40 – $47 an hour.
