The client is looking for a detail-oriented User Research Assistant who has an intense passion for gaming and the science around conducting research. As a User Research Assistant, you will moderate groups (4 – 24 participants) through test sessions on console, PC, and mobile products where data is collected on our games. During this contract position you will focus on using statistical methods and data analysis to help scale qualitative research. You will receive training for many of the necessary skills; however, knowledge of research practices and programing skills is critical.
Responsibilities:
• Prepare and execute research studies.
• Support lead quant researchers in generalizing findings, applying data analysis techniques, developing metrics, and measuring usability at a high level of confidence
• Support lead researchers in all tasks including operational tasks
• Regularly submit notes/observations for each test
• Clean and code qualitative and quantitative data for analysis
• Use survey tools to draft, distribute, and administer surveys
• Use database to search, filter, schedule and communicate with playtest participants for recruitment
• Maintain the inventory of lab supplies, forecasting and updating when new stock is needed
Required Qualifications:
1) Comfortable with using technology, setting up lab hardware, troubleshooting common device connectivity issues.
2) Proficient in Python, R, and data visualization
3) Knowledge of research design and quantitative methodologies.
4) Experience moderating large groups effectively without supervision.
5) Familiar with game design theory and development process for video games.
6) Genuinely enjoy gaming in all forms!
Soft Skills:
1) Comfortable speaking in front of groups with authority
2) Excellent organizational and communication skills.
3) Able to adapt and learn quickly when faced with a large variety of problems
Education / Certifications:
• Pursuit or completion of a relevant college degree (branches of experimental psychology, behavioral science, data science or related field)
Pay Rate: $20 – $32.71/hour W2
